Welcome to Rashford Class
Welcome to our page.
Our form tutor is Miss Bell and our class TA is Miss Patel.
We have a new form room which is Stables 2.
In class we earn raffle tickets for good work and good behaviour. At the end of the week one pupil is also awarded a certificate for star of the week.
A Busy Start to Key Stage 3
The pupils in Rashford class have had a busy and exciting start to life in Year 7 with no fewer than 8 new starters in the class.
The boys have all settled in well and have been working really hard.
In English we have been looking at Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone. We made a special potion.
We have been using sensory boxes in class
We made a great display of our work during Black History Month
We completed some tricky challenges in communication
To celebrate Halloween we made crafts and carved pumpkins
We have also been taking part in forest school activities where we have had to develop our teamwork skills.
In the run up to Christmas we made some lovely decorations to sell as part of the enterprise challenge.
Welcome Back
After a busy start to the year we hope you all enjoyed a well deserved Christmas Break.
Spring term started off rather strangely as the Covid pandemic meant a number of pupils and staff were absent from school. Fortunately, that didn't stop us from returning to our busy schedule.
Spring Term Review
Many of us had to stay at home at the start of the term where we worked with our teachers on Zoom and had lots of tasks to complete. The ones who were in school were in different classes and had to get used to working with different member of staff. Miss Bell and Miss Patel were very proud of how we adapted to this and were pleased to hear that we had done well.
The lockdown resulted in the spring term being much shorter than we had anticipated but that didn't stop us completing lots of activities.
Lancashire School Games Virtual Challenges
We competed against other schools in the county in both boccia related games and football. (some of the tasks were very tricky!)
New Class Novel
We have started a new class novel which is called The Great Escape by author Megan Rix. It is about the plight of some family pets during WWII. We are linking lots of our English work to the story- I don't want to give much more away as we are only part way through!
Science Week
The theme was sustainability and we had fun looking at how we could reuse plastic to make new things such as lava lamps, bird feeders, plant pots and even survival blankets.
New Term
Miss Bell and Miss Patel are looking forward to starting the Arts Award with us this half term and have lots of other exciting things planned too. In maths we will be looking at data, we will be completing tennis and striking and fielding games in PE, we will cover lots of topics in RE and humanities an will continue to attend Runshaw College or forest school on Thursday afternoons. Miss Elliott will be teaching our science lessons and Mrs Patten will be teaching our ASDAN and PSD lessons.
We look forward to keeping you updated about what we have been up to.
Autumn Term Review
Since September we have been staying in our class group and working with our teacher, Miss Bell, and teaching assistant, Miss Patel. We all settled into this new way of learning really well and the adults in our class were very proud of us.
One pupil in the class has been attending PNE on Thursdays and the other pupils have been alternating between Runshaw College and forest school activity on Thursday afternoons.
Unfortunately, our KS3 bubble had to close for 14 days in November and we had to go back to learning from home. Once again our class staff were really pleased with the commitment most of us showed to home learning and were delighted to see the work that we had completed.
In December we headed back to school and completed work on our class novel 'The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas'. We completed maths work on time and measure and took part in lots of Christmassy activities. The end of term saw the annual 'M Factor' competition and lots of wonderful performances from pupils. Well done to all prize winners.
A Very Busy Start to Year 9
Some of us may not have been in school since March but that hasn't stopped us having a very busy start to the new school year. We have been lucky enough to be able to attend Runshaw college on alternate Thursday afternoons have started to complete work towards our ASDAN awards. We have also been working hard to complete maths and English tasks and have even managed to make our own puppets, wraps and healthy fizzy drinks!
Here are some photos of what we have been up to.
