Moor Hey School
A Mathematics and Computing Specialist College

Mr M Woods Co-opted Governor

I am a retired firefighter and served with Lancashire Fire and Rescue for my full 30 years of service.  In those incredible years I had the opportunity to be involved in some challenging charity work, refurbishing a children’s home in Romania, providing a water supply in Tanzania and a food storage area in the middle of the Sahara Desert in Algiers.

After retirement I continued to work with the Fire Service for several years as a Fire Investigation Dog Handler attending post fire scenes where foul play had been suspected. I covered the areas of Cumbria, Lancashire, Merseyside, Greater Manchester and Cheshire.

Presently I spend quite a lot of time as a qualified clay shooting instructor and looking after three working Labrador dogs.

I was very honoured when asked to be a governor at Moor Hey School to continue in the footsteps of my late father George Woods who was one of the founding Governors at Moor Hey.
